Custom Fitting

The Custom Fitting Process at Chichester Golf Club:

We custom fit an individual golfer by measuring his physical attributes for the specifications required to achieve the ideal posture, swing plane and impact position. This process is called the static fitting.

This is based on the only constant characteristics of the golf swing, which are the golfers height, arm length and hand size.

Custom fitting of irons is geared towards the golfer addressing the ball consistently with each shot, together with swinging the club at the same speed and maintaining the same swing plane every time.

Even the top touring Professionals struggle to maintain these swing characteristics every time, it is a lot to ask for the average golfer to do the same.

Customising the clubs to position the golfer in the ideal position for their physical characteristics will train the golfer to address the ball with the correct posture and swing along the ideal swing plane, which all adds up to the correct impact position and better scores.

Correct Lie
During the swing, the sole of the club should contact
the ground precisely at its centre in order to hit a straight shot. This can only happen if the lie angle is correct.

Lie too upright.
Ball will be hit left
of target.

Lie too flat.
Ball will be hit right of target.

Once this has been completed we then ask golfers to hit a few shots (the dynamic fitting of the custom fitting process). During this time we check the lie, length, grip size and try various clubs to see which one fits best to the budget, the player’s requirements and ability.
